Why do we need a festival on the ice of the Yenisei River?

The Taimyr Smelt Festival of Northern Peoples was held with the support of Nornickel on April 15. Participants from 24 farms of indigenous minorities competed on the ice of the Yenisei. Fishermen shared the intricacies of ice fishing, which have been passed down from generation to generation.
ANFISA NIKIFOROVA,
Head of Relations with the Indigenous Northern Minorities in the Regional Projects Department of Nornickel's Polar Division:

“There is a good, hearty and warm atmosphere here. I hope that the event will be appreciated by all residents and guests of the peninsula and become an annual event, and that family communities will find new ways of development while conducting traditional economic activities.”
