10th Poneslos Eco-Marathon: 1,500 volunteers and 173 teams
In addition to the traditional stages – SMM, EcoDelo (Eco Business), and Prosvetitelsky (Educational) – the organizers added six more environmental areas to the anniversary marathon. These include scientific and zoo volunteering, as well as creative projects on environmental education.
Norilsk activists took care of the Norilsk Museum park, a favorite place to relax for city residents. They got the place clean and tidy, and even put up signs with funny messages for dog owners: “The museum courtyard is not for barking avant-garde,” “What you leave today, you will see tomorrow,” “I respect the exhibits, so I don't leave autographs. Bobik.” It turned into a street exhibition of social advertising.
The Eco-Marathon originated from a small volunteer movement of Nornickel employees in Monchegorsk in 2016 and has grown into one of the largest initiatives in Russia. This year, it became part of the People of the Territory, a new social capital development program.
