Volunteers in the City

Every year volunteers from Norilsk, Chita, Monchegorsk, Zapolyarny, Murmansk and Moscow participate in the New Year's Eve Charity Fair. They create unique Christmas tree toys, decorations, and unusual art objects with their own hands. Legendary Russian sportsmen provide things with their autographs.

First comes the auction, in which you can participate in-person or online. The remaining lots are being sold at the fair: in-person and online. According to the tradition, Nornickel doubles the proceeds and transfers them to help children with serious diseases and rare animals.

The first new house in Norilsk built under the renovation program

In 2022, housing construction began under the Norilsk Renovation Program. The total financing for the program is RUB 120 billion, with 2/3 to be provided by Nornickel. The first buildings will be nine-floored, their construction is set to be completed by the end of 2024. The photo shows the construction in August 2023. The program is coordinated by Polar Division’s project office for the Norilsk comprehensive development initiatives.

A Gyrfalcon

The Gyrfalcon is the largest and rarest of the falcon species. Due to poaching, climate change and human impact, its population has decreased by two thirds over the past 20 years. There are currently 3,500 to 5,000 breeding pairs of this species in Russia. In September 2023, in acknowledgement of the species’ value, Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and the UAE adopted a framework declaration of intent for the conservation of the gyrfalcon population.

Nornickel invested 50 mln rubles in the preservation of rare birds in Taimyr and on the Kola Peninsula. Researchers will run genetic research and set up a system for tracking gyrfalcons with satellite transmitters.

Pavel Bure in Norilsk

For a long time now, the legendary forward has been coming to Norilsk every year to support the Taimyr hockey team. This year, Pavel Bure conducted coaching sessions with young athletes, participated in a charity match, watched the game between HC Norilsk and HC Sokol, and visited the Aika sports center.
