Sturgeon fry released into Yenisei
The Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company, a subsidiary of Nornickel, releases 358 thousand sturgeon fry into the Yenisei River. This was another scheduled release of fry under an agreement with the Federal Agency for Fishery. The goal of the project is to restore populations of valuable fish species.
The fry were released into the river through a pipe alternately attached to special plastic containers with sturgeon juveniles.
In total, 3 million sturgeon fry will be released in 2024.
