Volunteers and Nornickel employees joined forces for two major environmental cleanup campaigns across the Arctic
In Norilsk a record-breaking 8,447 participants turned out for the citywide cleanup, clearing more than 5.4 million square metres across the Central District, Talnakh, and Kayerkhan. Teams removed nearly 1,200 tonnes of waste from streets, together with 23 tonnes of scrap metal and 5.5 tonnes of tyres—all of which were sent for recycling.
In Russia’s Murmansk Region, company volunteers took part in the Great Arctic Cleanup in Teriberka, restoring the Yaytsa Drakona (Dragon Eggs) beach and collecting 1,010 bags of litter. Both initiatives are part of Nornickel’s environmental strategy, which prioritises cleaning up contaminated sites, rehabilitating land, and creating high-quality public spaces in the communities where the company operates.
