Mainland resettlement program in numbers

7,580 Norilsk families have bought new homes on the mainland from 2011 to 2024 with Nornickel’s financial support. With financing from the federal and regional budgets, a total of 9,613 families have moved to new homes over this period.

Over the 14 years in the program, the company has provided RUB 15 bn, or 2/3 of the total budget. In total, RUB 23 bn have been allocated to put settlers into new homes on the mainland under a four-party agreement between the company, municipal, regional and federal governments.

The amount of funding was linked to total length of service in the North, number of family members planning to move, and the presence of a disabled family member in the household. The average payment per family was RUB 2.3 mln in 2021, RUB 2.9 mln in 2022, RUB 3.8 mln in 2023, and RUB 4.1 mln in 2024.

DMITRY SVIRIDOV,
Deputy Chairman of Krasnoyarsk Territory Legislative Assembly:

“Nornickel’s commitment to the resettlement program is the only case when a private company has independently undertaken to finance the relocation of people from the Arctic for better living conditions under a dedicated program delivered via a public-private partnership. And the company’s contribution has also been the largest among all the parties involved.”
