Over the past few years, volunteering has become a mandatory element of Nornickel’s corporate culture. It helps identify leaders of change needed by the business during periods of transformation of production and business ties. At the same time, through volunteer projects, such employees improve living standards in their towns and cities.
The company has a calendar of volunteer events, and everyone can select a project to their liking. In addition to its own activities, Nornickel supports municipal, federal, and international initiatives, such as the Sad Pamyati (Garden of Memory), My Vmeste (We are Together), Sokhranim Les (Let’s Save the Forest), the Arctic.Led Tronulsya (Break the Ice).

Partnership at all levels
Nornickel is moving from a paternalistic model of volunteering to a mutually beneficial partnership between the company and its employees, and between the business and local communities. The Kombinat Dobra (Plant of Kindness) global eco-volunteer project of the company became a prime example of this cooperation.

Volunteering is much more than just the obvious social mission. Participation in the projects forms the proactive standpoint that is required to work in an advanced company today. An employee who takes responsibility becomes more effective.

Nornickel's volunteers have organized 537 events since launching their first projects. For example, the PonesLos environmental marathon started with regular volunteer clean-up days in 2016. Gradually, the eco-marathon became the central event of the company's volunteer program.
In 2023, 55 volunteers of the PonesLos eco-marathon repaired 2 km of eco-trail in the Adon-Chelona Cordon. To reduce trampling of vulnerable prairie soils, they also filled in the holes and repaved a half-kilometer road that is part of the hiking trail
In 2022 and 2023, Alexey Yagudin, an Olympic figure skating champion, became the ambassador of the PonesLos eco-marathon
In 2018, volunteers of the PonesLos eco-marathon built a 300-meter-long eco-trail in the Stolby Nature Reserve. The trail leads from the cableway to the observation deck
Personal contribution
Personal Donation Program. Since 2016, Nornickel employees have been donating money via a specialized corporate portal. Donation boxes have been installed at plants, administrative buildings and offices. The company doubles the money raised.
